Troubleshooting FAQ
The watch won’t charge
- Confirm all cables are connected.
- Remove the watch from the charging base and place it back on.
- Repeat a few times if needed.
- Make sure the protective film on the back of the watch is removed.
- If it still won’t charge, connect the base to a different USB charger.
I don’t receive texts or notifications on the watch
Step 1: Phone settings
- Make sure push notifications are enabled for the specific app(s).
iPhone (iOS)
- Enable notifications to the Notification Center for the relevant apps.
- In iPhone notification settings, set Show Previews to Always.
- In the NORM app: Settings → Notifications → turn everything you need ON.
If it still doesn’t work (iOS/Android)
- In the NORM app: Settings → Unpair.
- Immediately after, remove the watch from the phone’s Bluetooth device list.
- Re-pair using the NORM app (do not pair in the phone’s Bluetooth menu).
Android note: Some Android apps may not reliably pass notifications unless they’re supported/allowed in your notification settings.
The watch suddenly shows the wrong time
- Open the NORM Connect app.
- Go to Settings → Calibration.
- Follow the in-app instructions.
During calibration, make sure both hands are at 12. Do not set the time manually on the watch—time is set automatically.
The watch repeats old notifications
This can happen if the watch disconnects and reconnects. Clear old notifications from your phone’s Notification Center to prevent repeats.
How do I turn off notifications on the watch?
- In the NORM Connect app: Settings → Notifications → choose what gets sent to the watch.
- To disable a specific app entirely, change that app’s push notification setting in your phone’s system settings.
How do I change the icons shown on the app “Activity” home screen?
Open NORM Connect → go to Settings (top) → Advanced/Details → Display. Choose which functions appear in the app.
The heart rate sensor is not working
- On the watch: navigate to the heart icon and press/hold the crown to start a reading.
- In the app: Settings → Heart Rate Monitor → enable auto tracking if desired.
- For best results, wear the watch firmly on your wrist.
The “Crown settings” menu in the app doesn’t work
The Crown Settings menu is intended for newer-generation NORM watches and does not apply to NORM 1.
Step tracking is not working
- Give it time—sometimes sensors need a short period to begin tracking.
- Try restarting the watch from Advanced Settings 4–6 times (restart, not reset).
- Try a short run to trigger tracking.
- Disconnect the watch and reconnect it to the app.
- If nothing works: Settings → Advanced → Reset the watch.
Also make sure the watch is fully charged. On first use, tracking may not start until the watch has been on for 24+ hours. The step counter resets at 12:00 (noon).
Steps / distance tracking looks inaccurate
In the app, update your personal data (height/weight/etc.). Open Settings and tap the round grey profile icon in the top-left.
Notifications show only phone numbers, not contact names
- Confirm the app has permission to access contacts (phone OS privacy settings).
- Update the app to the latest version available for your device.
If it still persists, it may be a known limitation/bug in some app versions.

Calibration (time correction)
Calibration sets the analog hands correctly by aligning both hands to 12:00 inside the app, then the watch sets the correct time automatically.
- App → Settings → Calibration.
- Move both hands to the 12 position as instructed.
- Finish calibration and return to the time screen.
Do not set the time manually on the watch.
Restart vs Reset (important)

- Reset: factory reset (use if restart doesn’t solve it).
Factory reset can be done in the app: Settings → Advanced Settings → Reset.
Charging & sync status
- During charging, the screen lights up and shows a scrolling charging animation.
- The watch cannot be operated while charging.
- When fully charged, a full-power icon appears; screen dims after ~30 seconds.
- During sync, a sync interface remains until completed or interrupted.
Notifications: how they display
- Message previews are limited to ~110 characters (about 55 Japanese characters).
- Notifications scroll automatically, then return to the previous screen.
- Press the crown while scrolling to advance to the next item.
- Press & hold (when not scrolling) to cancel message viewing and return.
Strap service note
If adjusting or changing the strap is difficult, many electronics retailers/watch service counters can do it for a fee—contact a local store.
